The Finnish Defence Forces Human Performance Division conducts research, development, and service activities on multidisciplinary comprehensive human performance within the Defence Forces’ diverse operational environments.
The Human Performance Division:
Conducts research on human-machine interaction and cyber psychology.
Studies and develops the Defence Forces’ personnel performance requirements and personal appraisals.
Develops and maintains personnel performance standards and procedures.
Performs personal and competence appraisals and surveys for the Defence Forces.
In emergency situations, the division provides the Defence Command with a comprehensive situation picture assessing the troops’ performance capabilities.

Challenge
The primary objective was to conduct thorough research on existing augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (MR) technologies. This research encompassed the identification of their features, capabilities, and limitations. The findings of this research were subsequently utilized in the design process for solution utilizing said technologies. Additionally, I conceptualized and validated specific use cases for development.
Role
Robert contributed to the research team, adhering to human-centered design principles. His responsibilities included evaluating the hardware’s capabilities through the development of various experiments that assessed usability across multiple metrics.
